Exciting chatter has filled the air, much as it did the first day you arrived at camp. But this time it's different. What had once been segregated groups of TCA officials, hunters, specialized breeders and every manner of handler in between, now all intermingle with one another, captivated by one another's shared experiences of the past few months. Handlers and their Tokotas are beginning to pack their belongings to head home, taking their newfound treasures with them. The expedition is drawing to a close, though some (call them stragglers or die-hard fanatics,) continue their adventure in the Tartoks and the adjacent Mysterious Valley.

As you shoulder your pack, the wind picks up. On it ride the sounds of the Mysterious Valley, the song of birds and other jungle fauna - and the haunting howl of the Akotas. You look to your tokota and grin, knowing your adventure together has only just begun...

Event Tracker Submissions ARE NOW CLOSED
[COUNTDOWN TIMER]

THE EVENT IS ENDING...

To complete your journey and close your own personal book on this event (and to collect prizes!), you may submit your Event Tracker Journal in the comments below.

When you submit your Event Tracker Journal, it is locked in and must be ready for judging immediately. You may not edit your journal after it has been submitted. Your journal will not be re-scored if you add anything after it has been judged. Your participation in the event will be reviewed and scored quickly, but you will not receive your point scores until all journals have been scored.

Before submitting your tracker, make sure that you have:

  • Included all applicable forms in the description of your deviations. Applicable forms can be found in each Episode's journal. *Main Events and Collection Quests have forms, Side Quests do not.
  • Identified someone else's registered tokota that you may be depicting, if any, in the description of your deviations. :new: Please link to their import.
  • Labeled your event entries in your tracker (e.g. "Episode 1 Main Event: [link]". You can use this sample tracker as a template!)
  • Logged only the entries you want judged!
  • Include a 'Participation Badge' Request section on your journal (see template above.)

Plot Participation by TokoTime
The Participation Badge is awarded to tokotas that appear in every single one of your submissions listed on your tracker for Main Events and Side Quests, even if you did not enter or submit to every Episode/Side Quest. Collection Quests are exempt. Tokotas do not have to be registered to earn this badge.

All folders for Main Events, Side Quests and Collection Quest, Prehistoric Hunting, and yes - even Registration - will remain open for submission for those still racing to finish until October 30. The reason the event closing date is so far out is so you have time to read over this journal and double-check your work before submitting. Progress on Collection Quests for each Episode may come to a halt, but you may still submit entries to the folders! They may not be rolled by the time you submit your tracker, but they will still count. The overall narrative however has come to an end, and will no longer update.

Your entries will be judged on two different systems when you submit:

Story Points and Episode Points (also referred to as Episode Scoring or Tier Scoring).

  • The Episode Scoring that you earn are exact (e.g. +5, +10, etc.) and -mostly- objective, depending on your applicable trait/companion/tack bonuses. Episode points are rooted in your tiered score earned from the main event of each episode, as the name suggests. Your final Episode scores will not be visible to you (or anyone else), but the winners for each Tier will be announced in an Event results journal!
  • Story Points are slightly more subjective, and depend on the effort you put into your entries, and the narrative you’ve crafted throughout the event as a whole. When judging commences for all participants, you will receive a score in your tracker. That score equates to the amount of “prize points” you’ve earned - and can spend - in the event’s Prize Shop!

WHEN YOU ARE READY, SUBMIT YOUR EVENT TRACKER HERE

An admin will reply to your comment notifying you your score has been tallied. You will not receive that score until all trackers are judged.

:bulletred: DISCLAIMER :bulletred:

In the interest of time, judges will not be asking for clarification of information, or corrections.
If something (a form, a link, etc.) is missing, you may lose points, so take care to double-check your work!

EPISODE POINT SCORING REFERENCE

Each Episode’s main event has different bonuses. You can view the exact bonus breakdown on each Episode Journal which are linked below. You do not need to tally your own scores on your tracker!

STORY POINT SCORING REFERENCE

Story Point scoring is more complicated, but the bonuses are applied the same across each episode. Below is a breakdown of story point scoring for all three Episodes. This is only for reference. Do not itemize or tally your own scores as demonstrated in the table below. Main Event and Collection Quests (one for each leader) scores only count once per episode. Side Quest scores stack. Your team allegiance does not restrict you from completing any prompts, and does not affect your score in any way.

Total possible event narrative Entries that will be scored, by Episode. A handler must be present to earn story points for the following entries.

Episode 1:
(no cap) Prologue Side Quest: +5
(cap: 1) Episode 1 Main Event: +1-40
(no cap) Episode 1 Side Quest - Thunderfeather's prompt: +5
(no cap) Episode 1 Side Quest - Mitchell's prompt: +5
(cap: 1) Episode 1 Collection Quest - Submitted for Thunderfeather: +5 - handler must be present
(cap: 1) Episode 1 Collection Quest - Submitted for Mitchell: +5 - handler must be present

Episode 2
(cap: 1) Episode 2 Main Event: +1-40
(no cap) Episode 2 Side Quest - Thunderfeather's prompt: +5
(no cap) Episode 2 Side Quest - Mitchell's prompt: +5
(cap: 1) Episode 2 Collection Quest - Submitted for Thunderfeather: +5 - handler must be present
(cap: 1) Episode 2 Collection Quest - Submitted for Mitchell: +5 - handler must be present

Episode 3
(cap: 1) Episode 3 Main Event: +1-40
(no cap) Episode 3 Side Quest - Thunderfeather's prompt: +5
(no cap) Episode 3 Side Quest - Mitchell's prompt: +5
(cap: 1) Episode 3 Collection Quest - Submitted for Thunderfeather: +5 - handler must be present
(cap: 1) Episode 3 Collection Quest - Submitted for Mitchell: +5 - handler must be present

Story Point bonuses for the event:

+1 - 15 for your handler's level of involvement - (per Episode)

+1 - 30 for a narrative/story arc presented across all entries - (overall)

+5 for including a Registered Tokota that does not belong to you - (per entry)
  • Does not stack multiple times within an entry.
  • Includes Side and Collection Quests, does not include Prehistoric Hunts.
  • Only counts once per Side Quest prompt as Side Quests are not capped.
  • In order to count, you must link the Registered tokota’s import in the description of your piece.

+10 for including a Team Leader in any entry - (once)
  • Does not need to be your Leader if you are registered.
  • You do not have to be registered to a team to obtain this bonus!

+5 for Prehistoric Hunts - (per rolled entry)
  • Can be a failed roll
  • Last-minute entries sent to corrections will receive a 24 hour grace period to make fixes.
  • Handler not required to earn full story points
  • No current cap. (This may change.)
  • Note: The submission rate was capped at 4 per user, but you could participate in more than 4 if you collaborate with other members who are able to submit those hunts.

To count for points, all entries must have been made by, or collaborated on by you.

(If you *collaborated with a partner, don't forget to include the entries you contributed to that may be uploaded to their gallery. Make sure your information is listed either in the description or in the comments of their entry, or you may list it in your event tracker.)
*The maximum number of allowed collaborators on any entry is 3.

Please identify in your Event Tracker which entry is your Episode 1/2/3 Main Event entry, your Side Quest(s) and your Collection Quest(s), as well as your Prehistoric Hunts. You may include more submissions than will be scored if the submissions are relevant to your own personal narrative, but the ones that you want to be scored must be clearly marked or identified in some way.

Confused?

We understand that scoring was confusing when the event first launch, and your interpretation may be different than what's listed on this journal - that's why listed them here! Please keep in mind that this is the first big event we've run with this system - much of which was on the fly - and we apologize for any difficulties/misunderstandings. We are deeply grateful to those of you who have stuck with us! The event team will try their best to clarify questions/confusion and update the FAQ, but bear in mind - your question may have already been asked! Please review the comments of this journal and the Summer Event 2017 main journal to see if your question was already asked and answered before asking here.

EVENT RESULTS AND PLACEMENT

When your Event Tracker is judged, admins will take note of your score and log it. The users with the highest Episode Scores win the the Main Event of their best Episode, and are entitled to special prizes listed on the Summer Event 2017 journal. The users with the highest Story Point Scores are also entitled to different, unique prizes! Everyone who receives a Story Point Score will be eligible to purchase prizes from the Summer Event Prize Shop.

EPISODE SCORING PLACEMENT:

  • For Episode Scoring, there will be three top-scoring winners for each Episode in all of the three available Tiers. The Tier System uses a Tokota's applicable bonus points from Tack, Companions, Traits, and their Hierarchy combined to place Tokotas into categories, so that they are competing in similarly stacked categories. This levels the playing field between brand-new Tokotas with no Traits and competition-stacked Tokotas.

TOKOTA TIERS FALL AS FOLLOWS:
Tier 1: 0 - 19 Tier Bonus points
Tier 2: 20 - 39 Tier Bonus points
Tier 3: 40+ Tier Bonus points

OVERALL/STORY POINT SCORING PLACEMENT:

  • There will also be three top-scoring winners for the overall event, earned from Story Points. At no point do Episode/Tier points and Story points combine to influence your score.

BONUS CLASS PLACEMENT:

  • In addition to overall placement for Story Point scoring, there are different “Best Of” bonus sub-classes based on your style of storytelling! Admin will nominate their favorite entries/storylines for these events prior to group voting. You do not necessarily need a full, nor near-perfect score to qualify for these Classes! The full qualifications are left to the discretion of the event’s admin team and will not be publicly disclosed.

To qualify for any “Best Of” Class, you need:
1. A Main Event entry for at least 2 out of the 3 Episodes
2. At least 3 exceptional Side and/or Collection Quests

The List of Classes

The Underdog - Earned by using an underdog character that manages to pull through and become the hero of your story, even when no one else was rooting for them!

The Antagonist - Earned by involving a strong antagonist in your plot, be it a rival, a handler, or even your main tokota!

The Michelangelo - Earned by creating consistently stunning visual artwork.

The Pulitzer - Earned by creating consistently gripping literature pieces.

The Mover - Your plot is a roller coaster and you've taken us for a ride! Earned by creating an emotionally moving plot. (The emotion(s) can be anything, including but not limited to elation, fear, sadness, etc.)

The Chief's MVP - Earned by supporting Chief Thunderfeather at every turn! *You must be registered to her team to qualify.

The Professor's MVP - Earned by supporting Professor Mitchell at every turn! *You must be registered to his team to qualify.

The Nonpartisan - Earned by supporting both or neither teams equally. You just couldn't decide, but that doesn't mean you held back! *You must be unregistered or have registered as Neutral to qualify.

SCORING FAQ

I thought handlers weren't required for Collection Quests?

Handlers are not required for Collection Quests to be rolled. Handlers are required to count for story points.

How many Collection Quests total will earn me points for each Episode?

Two per Episode: one that was rolled for Mitchell, and one that was rolled for Thunderfeather

Does my Collection Quest have to have been rolled to count?

Because we may not get to all of the last-minute entries: No. However, it must still meet the requirements of that specific Collection Quest prompt (including having the form filled out in the description.)

Does my Prehistoric Hunt have to have been rolled to count?

Yes.

Wild Taming Raffle entries count for how many points? I didn’t see them on the list.

They don’t! It was clearly stated on each Wild Taming Raffle journal, because they have time limits, they will not earn story points.

I didn’t register/use my registered tokota in the event, oh no!

That’s fine! You may not earn as many Episode points as you could have, but not registering will not affect your story point score.

My collaboration partner hasn't updated our entry in their gallery to include my tokota's form, what can I do?

You may either add your form in a comment on the deviation, or preferably, include it in your event tracker underneath the link to the entry.

Can I include my form in my tracker instead of the description of my submissions?

Yes. Keep in mind to also list any registered tokotas that are featured as well. Entries with missing forms will not be counted.

I can't submit my last Prehistoric Hunts because my tokota is severely injured! Help!

We apologize for any holdups! If you feel stuck, know that you may use a different tokota in your Prehistoric Hunt without negatively affecting your story point score.

:new: If I submit my tracker with Prehistoric Hunts that are still waiting to be rolled, will they be counted?

We will clear the Prehistoric Hunting folder before counting unrolled hunts!
